No Platform Could Support Their Shipping Model

Neither BigCommerce nor Shopify could natively support the way ORIGIN wanted to charge for shipping. "We don't conform to what the market has," Parker said, and their shipping strategy reflected that. ORIGIN created their own shipping zones that didn't align with UPS or USPS and calculated rates by destination and cart quantity instead of weight, making checkout simpler and more predictable for customers.

Their jiu-jitsu product line pushed those limitations even further, requiring flat rates for specific item combinations that ecommerce platforms simply couldn't support without baking shipping costs into product prices.
